2026: Ex-APC Lawmakers Advocate Governorship Ticket to Osun

2026 – The forum of former Osun State House of Assembly members under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the party to zone its 2026 governorship ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District. In a communiqué signed by Ajibola Akinloye and 14 other ex-lawmakers, the group highlighted that Osun West has been marginalized, having never produced a governorship candidate for the Progressive Party since 1999.

The forum emphasized their commitment to equity, justice, and fairness, while also pledging loyalty to Adegboyega Oyetola, the APC leader in Osun and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy. They recognized Oyetola’s right of first refusal to the party’s ticket.

The communiqué stated: “We earnestly ask for the governorship ticket to be zoned to the West Senatorial District, which has never received the Progressive Party’s ticket since 1999, unlike the other two senatorial districts. Our request is subject to the decision of H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, who has the right of first refusal to the APC governorship ticket.”

The ex-lawmakers called for immediate commencement of party activities across all levels to strengthen APC’s position and ensure victory in the 2026 elections. They also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his fiscal reforms and socio-economic initiatives.

This move highlights a growing demand for equitable representation within Osun APC, aiming to enhance inclusivity and strengthen the party’s unity ahead of the next gubernatorial elections.
