IGP Mobilizes Tactical Units, Drones for Plateau Attacks

Abuja, Nigeria —   In a decisive move to restore peace and security in Plateau State, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed advanced surveillance equipment and specialized tactical teams to address the surge in violent attacks across vulnerable communities.

The directive, announced today in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, places DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, Deputy Inspector-General in charge of Operations, at the helm of this high-level intervention.

According to the statement, the operation will be bolstered by a formidable combination of armoured personnel carriers, aerial drones, police helicopters, mobile force units, and elite teams from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) which all deployed to execute coordinated missions in troubled zones, especially in Bokkos Local Government Area.

This development follows a wave of coordinated assaults that began on March 28, 2025, with a deadly raid in Bokkos that left multiple casualties and scores injured. The attacks have since escalated, claiming numerous lives and displacing families, leaving communities in a state of shock and fear.

The IGP emphasized that the deployment reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to a proactive and intelligence-driven approach to internal security, assuring citizens that all necessary measures are being taken to restore normalcy and bring perpetrators to justice.

“The safety of every Nigerian is paramount,” the statement read, calling on residents to cooperate with security operatives and share credible intelligence to support ongoing operations.

The Force reaffirmed its determination to confront criminality with strategic force, while maintaining respect for human rights and the rule of law.
