CAF Increases CHAN 2024 Prize Money by 75%

Cairo, Egypt  —  The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant 75% increase in prize money for the winner of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed that the winning team of the tournament will receive $3.5 million, while the total prize pool has been raised to $10.4 million, marking a 32% increase from previous editions.

“We are excited about the upcoming CHAN tournament in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda 2024 and have significantly increased the Prize Money of the Winner to $3.5 million,” said Motsepe.

“This competition is vital for the development of Africa-based players and contributes to the global competitiveness of African football.”

Motsepe also highlighted CAF’s commitment to investing in African football and enhancing its appeal to fans, sponsors, and stakeholders worldwide.

The tournament is scheduled to run from Saturday, February 1, 2025, to Friday, February 28, 2025.

Seventeen teams, including Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, and Zambia, have already secured qualification. Two additional teams will join the tournament after completing the remaining qualification matches.
