Abuja, Nigeria — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially launched a nationwide digital membership registration initiative aimed at enhancing party operations and streamlining its membership records.
Presiding over the launch, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar-Ganduje, emphasized the significance of digitization in party administration and election management. He noted that the exercise would provide the party with a scientifically accurate database crucial for planning and legal proceedings.
“Without proper documentation, we are merely operating blindly. This initiative ensures that we have verifiable data at all times. During legal disputes, the absence of a credible membership list has often complicated cases in court. With e-registration, our records will be readily accessible and indisputable,” Ganduje stated.
He urged state governors and party executives at all levels to facilitate the smooth implementation of the exercise within the stipulated timeframe.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, lauded President Bola Tinubu’s foresight in adopting digital solutions to strengthen party structures. Uzodimma noted that the e-registration initiative would enhance the credibility of the APC’s membership register and reinforce internal democracy.
He also dismissed criticisms from opposition parties, asserting that the APC remains committed to positioning itself as a globally respected political organization.
Providing insights into the project, APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana (SAN), revealed that the registration process would integrate members’ details with their National Identity Numbers (NIN). He explained that this feature would enable seamless retrieval of membership data from any location, ensuring efficiency in party administration.
The APC leadership reiterated that the initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing party membership management, aligning with global best practices in political organization.
