Awka, Nigeria — The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reaffirmed the party’s resolve to unseat Governor Charles Soludo in the upcoming November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
Speaking during the commissioning of the new APC State Secretariat in Awka, Ganduje emphasized that the party’s political strength and strategic planning would be pivotal in securing victory. The event, facilitated by top gubernatorial aspirant Sir Paul Chukwuma, attracted party stakeholders, aspirants, and policymakers focused on reviewing the party’s primaries and election strategies.
Ganduje criticized Anambra’s political landscape, describing it as being stuck in “rural politics” despite its vast human and natural resources. He stressed the need to integrate the state into Nigeria’s national political structure for greater development.
“We are here for three key reasons: commissioning our new party secretariat, engaging in stakeholder discussions, and strengthening party unity,” he stated.
“The APC is a solid political force, not a fragmented entity. We are committed to ensuring our members and aspirants understand that this election will not be business as usual.”
Highlighting the APC’s growing presence in the South East, Ganduje noted the party’s transition from having no governorship seats in the region to now controlling two states. He urged Anambra to align with the national political framework, referencing historical Igbo leaders such as Nnamdi Azikiwe and Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“We must reconnect with Nigeria’s political center and move beyond regional politics,” he declared.
Ganduje assured citizens of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing security, economic, and industrial challenges, describing the President as a visionary leader with a data-driven approach.
Sir Paul Chukwuma hailed Ganduje’s visit as a milestone for APC Anambra, citing efforts to establish functional ward offices across the state’s 326 wards and revitalize party structures in all 21 local government areas.
“This new secretariat symbolizes our collective dedication to progress, unity, and prosperity,” Chukwuma remarked, emphasizing grassroots engagement and increased youth and women participation in leadership roles.
State APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, acknowledged the contributions of the party’s five governorship aspirants, like Sir Paul Chukwuma, Engr. John Bosco Onunkwo, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, and Chief Obiora Okonkwo, while urging them to approach the primaries with maturity.
Other party leaders, including Deputy Chairman Sir Ifeanyichukwu Osegbo, Hon. Barrister Chugbo Enwezor, Paschal Candle (Coordinator, Booth2Booth for Tinubu), and Anambra Central Chairman High Chief Augustine Muomaife, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances of winning the state. They criticized Governor Soludo’s administration for failing to provide adequate security, asserting that Anambra deserves new leadership.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment by the APC to intensify efforts in reclaiming Anambra and positioning it for national development.
