NSCDC destroys 100 illegal refineries, arrests 200 suspects

At the second CG’s conference held in Abuja, Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, revealed that within two years, more than 100 illegal refineries had been dismantled and around 200 individuals had been apprehended in connection with these activities.

CG Audi urged the Corps’ personnel to escalate their efforts in combating the issues of oil theft and pipeline vandalism, emphasizing the significance of safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. He stressed the need to secure farmlands for food security, and protect facilities within the power, telecoms, and transportation sectors, with special attention on rail infrastructure.

He further outlined the Corps’ commitment to devising fresh strategies to address the prevailing insecurity challenges. In line with this objective, the Corps has placed a high priority on training and retraining, as well as the acquisition of modern operational and communication equipment. These initiatives are aimed at augmenting the overall capacity of the Corps to effectively address these concerns.
