PDP Confirms Sunday Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary

Abuja, Nigeria  —  The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally ratified Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, reaffirming its commitment to judicial rulings.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the decision followed extensive deliberations on a memorandum submitted by the Acting National Chairman on February 11, 2025.

The NWC carefully reviewed key legal documents, including the declaratory judgment of the High Court of Enugu, the Court of Appeal ruling affirming Udeh-Okoye’s position, and legal opinions from Dr. Kabiru T. Turaki (SAN) and the PDP’s National Legal Adviser.

“After thorough examination of the submissions, the NWC unanimously recognizes and confirms Rt. Hon. S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP in strict adherence to the Court of Appeal judgment,” the statement read.

The party further clarified that no existing court ruling supersedes the Court of Appeal’s decision, reinforcing its stance on due legal process.

To formalize the appointment, the PDP will officially notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant bodies in line with judicial directives.

Udeh-Okoye, a former National Youth Leader, assumes his new role at a pivotal moment for the PDP, as the party positions itself for strategic realignments ahead of future elections.
