US_ The United States government has repatriated $52.88 million in assets linked to former Nigerian Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, marking a significant milestone in the fight against corruption
The funds, recovered through a collaborative effort between the US and Nigerian governments, will be utilized for key national development projects.
$50 million will be allocated towards rural electrification initiatives across Nigeria, in partnership with the World Bank, while the remaining $2.88 million will be dedicated to strengthening Nigeria’s justice system and anti-corruption efforts. The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, emphasized the importance of transparency in managing the repatriated funds to ensure they benefit the Nigerian people. This move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption agenda, aiming to improve governance and accountability in the country.
