Sex Worker Stabs Barman to Death Over N200 in Adamawa

Yola, Nigeria A 32-year-old sex worker, Riyanatu Musa, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a barman, Yohanna Musa, to death during a disagreement over a N200 balance.

The incident occurred in the Mubi South Local Government Area, where the suspect reportedly quarreled with the victim over an unpaid balance for liquor.

Speaking on the case, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that the suspect confessed to committing the crime during police interrogation.

According to SP Nguroje, Riyanatu Musa admitted that she had purchased two bottles of liquor, including a popular dry gin known as “Big Ben,” from the barman and promised to settle the N1,700 bill the following day. While she paid N1,500, the remaining N200 led to a heated argument.

“In the course of the dispute, the suspect used a knife to stab the victim in the chest, which resulted in his death,” Nguroje stated.

The suspect, a mother of two, expressed regret over her actions, claiming she had consumed alcohol but not beer on the day of the altercation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has directed a thorough investigation into the matter. He also cautioned the public against resorting to self-help and emphasized the need for peaceful conflict resolution.

The case has left the community in shock, highlighting ongoing concerns over violence fueled by minor disputes.
