At fewer than 10 persons has feared dead and others injured as a section of the 150-year-old Zaria Central Mosque collapsed on Friday during a prayer session.
The incident occurred at about 4 pm while the worshipers were praying.
The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli confirmed the incident to newsme on Thursday.
He stated that the affected worshipers were covered by rubble because the section was built with mud over 150 years ago.
The monarch, while offering his condolences to the family of the victims, asked the Muslim faithful to pray outside the mosque pending the repairs.
The State Commissioner of Police has directed a full-scale investigation, to unveil the cause of the collapse.
