Abuja, March 18, 2025 – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocation for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja.
In an official letter dated March 13, 2025, the FCT Administration cited non-payment of annual ground rent for 20 years—spanning from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025—as the reason for the revocation. The notice, signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, emphasized that multiple warnings had been issued through national newspapers and electronic media urging defaulters to clear outstanding dues.
The revocation order, exercised under the Land Use Act, grants the FCTA full authority to reclaim the property until all financial obligations are settled.
This action follows an earlier revocation of 4,794 land titles across the FCT due to unpaid ground rent, amounting to approximately N6.9 billion over a 40-year period. The FCT Administration insists that compliance with land regulations is non-negotiable, reiterating that ground rent payments are a legal obligation under the terms of land occupancy.
