Abuja, Nigeria— Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has officially commissioned the 5-kilometer Gaba-Tokulo road in the Bwari Area Council, a significant infrastructure development project.
The road is part of the administration’s commitment to completing one major road project in each of the six Area Councils, as directed by President Bola Tinubu in 2024.
“This Gaba-Tokulo road has cost approximately N7 billion. In Bwari alone, we have invested over N62.2 billion in road infrastructure, with additional educational investments bringing the total to nearly N100 billion,” Wike remarked during the inauguration ceremony.
In addition to road infrastructure, Wike highlighted the administration’s significant investments in the education sector. The renovation of Government Secondary Schools in Dutse, Bwari, Ushafa, Deidei, Kubwa, and Jibi has been carried out at a cost of N27 billion.
On security, the Minister revealed plans to build two new police divisions in Igou and Ushafa, with expected completion by May, as part of efforts to enhance security in the region.
Bwari Area Council Chairman John Gabaya expressed gratitude to the Minister, acknowledging the road’s impact on alleviating the risks associated with the previous state of the Gaba-Tokulo road. He also presented a token of appreciation on behalf of the Tokulo community.
The Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, emphasized that these initiatives align with President Tinubu’s vision for better connectivity and economic development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The road commissioning marks a milestone in the government’s commitment to delivering transformative projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
