Vice President Kashim Shettima, has launched a 500-Housing unit estate project initiated by the governor of Sokoto state, Ahmad Aliyu.
The project was laid in Kalambaina, Wamakko local government area of the state.
He also said that an estimated sum of N21 trillion is required to provide these housing units to fill the deficit gap.
Shettima, however, commended the effort of the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for embarking on the project within a short period of one hundred days in office.
In his remark, the State Governor explained that the housing estate was aimed at providing accommodations to state and federal Civil servants and reduce the cost of rented apartments in the state metropolis.
Governor Aliyu is to spend N7.3 billion for the construction of the new housing project.“Housing challenges in the state have given birth to the high cost of rent and reduce the development of shanty settlements with its attendant consequence and environmental hazards”.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Land and Housing, Barrister Nasir Aliyu Dantsoho, explained that the 500 housing units will includes 300 three-bedroom apartments and 200 two-bedroom apartments.
“The government will provide all essential facilities in the estate including Water, schools, hospitals, markets, roads and recreation centres.
