Washington, D.C. — The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has listed 3,690 Nigerians among nearly two million non-citizens slated for deportation, as part of a large-scale immigration enforcement initiative.
According to a report from ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), obtained by Fox News, as of November 24, 2024, over 1.4 million individuals had final removal orders under the non-detained docket.
Nigeria ranks second in Africa on the list, following Somalia with 4,090 individuals. Ghana holds the third position with 3,228 nationals. Globally, Mexico leads with 252,044 citizens facing deportation.
The U.S. government has urged foreign countries to cooperate by verifying citizenship, issuing travel documents, and facilitating repatriation. ICE cautioned that nations failing to comply may be classified as uncooperative.
“Delays and, in some cases, the inability to complete removals are caused by non-cooperation from foreign governments,” the document highlighted. ICE warned that countries could face restrictions if they are labeled uncooperative or at-risk.
This deportation effort is part of President Donald Trump’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration, which has remained a central focus of his administration. President Trump, who has frequently linked illegal immigration to national security concerns, signed multiple executive orders just hours after his second inauguration, including one declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The move has drawn heightened scrutiny as the administration continues to emphasize the connection between immigration enforcement and national security measures.
