The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after attending the two-day 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Guinea Bissau.
President Tinubu emerged as the new Chairman of ECOWAS less than 45 days after becoming the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As the chairman of the Commission, President Tinubu called on the leaders to give priority to regional security, tackling terrorism and strengthening democracy in the sub-region.
President Tinubu had departed Nigeria on Saturday June 8 for Guinea Bissau to attend the summit. He also visited the Nigerian Troops under the ECOWAS Stabilisation Force while in Guinea-Bissau.
