Safety guards rescue 86 as 100 sojourner lost at sea at Spanish coast

Not fewer than 86 people have been rescued from a boat by the Spanish coast guard following a swift search for migrants who had been missing at sea coast more than a week.

The BBC reports that the rescued vessel have been 70 nautical miles (130km) south-west of the Canary Islands and was carrying people from sub-Saharan Africa.

It quoted the Spanish coast guard as saying that a nearby boat assisted them in the rescue.

According to reports, dozens of people are still missing as two boats carrying them cannot be accounted for.

Over 100 people are in the two missing boats believed to have departed Senegal on 23 June.
