President Bola Tinubu has approved free train services across the country from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, to ease transportation costs during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing in Abuja.
Idris highlighted that the initiative aligns with the President’s commitment to providing relief for Nigerians, particularly the most vulnerable. “As we did last year, there will be free train services nationwide from December 20 to January 5. This reflects the administration’s dedication to reducing transportation burdens during festive periods,” he said.
He also noted that similar initiatives were implemented during previous Christmas and Sallah celebrations, underscoring the government’s ongoing efforts to support citizens during key holidays.
