President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna, according to Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Vice President disclosed this during a condolence visit to the Kukah family in Kamuru, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following the death of Yohanna Sidi Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom and relative of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
“With Senator Katung and the member of the House of Representatives, we have reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna,” Shettima stated.
He also revealed ongoing discussions to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, further emphasizing the administration’s commitment to the development of the region.
Highlighting the government’s dedication, Shettima cited the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as a testament to President Tinubu’s focus on Southern Kaduna’s security.
“Be rest assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and Southern Kaduna at heart,” he affirmed.
The Vice President commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his inclusive governance approach and pledged federal collaboration to improve infrastructure, particularly road networks, in the region.
Bishop Kukah, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude for the visit and urged attention to the region’s infrastructure challenges. “We are honored by your presence and hope you remain a friend to this community,” he said.
