Three miners were reportedly killed on Friday, they were said to have been shot dead at a mining site around Tanjol in Jol community of Riyom local government area in Plateau State.
Confirming the incident, Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Movement (BYM), said other miners and farmers around have fled the area
He explained that the incident happened at about 11am, he further said two other persons were injured in the incident that when everyone around the area was going about their activities with fear.
Meanwhile, the publicity had called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts towards the safety of lives and property in rural communities, describing the attack as one too many.
He expressed disappointment about how the killings have continued unabated despite the deployment of mobile police officers in the area.
Effort to reach out to the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Plateau, DSP Alfred Alabo seems abortive as he did not take the calls put across to react to the incident.
