Jalingo, Taraba — The Taraba State Police Command has lost its Public Relations Officer, Abdulahi Usman, who passed away following a prolonged illness.
Reports indicate that Usman, who served as the Command’s spokesperson for three years, died in the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Jalingo, the state capital.
His deputy, Gambo Kwache, who had been acting as the Command’s spokesperson during Usman’s medical leave, confirmed the tragic news.
“I woke up to 14 missed calls and a message informing me that Oga is dead. I had to rush to confirm it myself,” Kwache stated.
A close associate of the late Usman, Mr. Ahmed Manga, also verified the news, stating that Usman passed away around 5 a.m. on Sunday.
“He was not critically ill, but last night, his condition worsened. We attempted to take him to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jalingo, but he passed away before we could get there. He was later confirmed dead at the hospital,” Manga explained.
According to Islamic tradition, Usman’s burial was scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Colleagues and friends have expressed their condolences, mourning the loss of a dedicated officer who served the Taraba State Police Command with commitment and professionalism.
