Ambassador Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, President and International Director of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), has called for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Prof. Adesanya-Davies, a linguistics expert, expressed concern over the prolonged violence, which has caused immense suffering, displacement, and economic hardship for people on both sides. She urged the international community to intervene and mediate for peace in the Middle East.
“The global community must act swiftly to demand an immediate ceasefire and push for negotiations that will lead to a lasting peace agreement,” she stated.
Addressing the broader regional implications, the Ambassador of Peace emphasized that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has had a significant impact on regional dynamics and alliances. She stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of the conflict and working toward a viable two-state solution.
Prof. Adesanya-Davies also highlighted the devastating economic consequences of the war, which has worsened poverty and debt in the region. She called on world leaders to prioritize economic cooperation and provide support to those affected on both sides.
“As a representative of UN-POLAC, advocating for global peace, I urge the United Nations, governments, and organizations to join us in calling for an end to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Together, we can create a more peaceful and prosperous future for all,” Prof. Adesanya-Davies appealed.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran of retaliation, stating that Tehran had made a “big mistake” and would “pay for it.” In the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials reported that a person was killed by falling missile debris in the city of Jericho.
