Police Deny Reports of Zamfara Bandits Relocating to Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed claims that bandits fleeing military operations in Zamfara have moved into Kwara State.

In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, debunked the allegations circulating on social media.

According to the statement, there is no credible intelligence or operational report confirming the movement of bandits from Zamfara to any part of Kwara.

A social media post on Sunday had suggested that displaced bandits had settled in Banni, a community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara.

Kwara Police Assure Public of Security

The police command strongly refuted this claim, emphasizing that it was false and aimed at spreading fear among residents.

“The Kwara State Police Command has been made aware of a report suggesting that bandits escaping military offensives in Zamfara State have migrated to Banni in Kwara.

“We categorically state that this claim is baseless and misleading. There is no verified intelligence or operational evidence to support the presence of armed bandits in the area,” the statement read.

The police further reassured the public that security agencies have intensified surveillance across the state to maintain law and order.

Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, reaffirmed that Kwara remains safe, with security forces fully prepared to handle any potential threats.

Residents were urged to rely on verified sources for information and refrain from spreading misinformation.
