Police Arrest Bandits in Kano, Recover Weapons & Charms

Kano, Nigeria  —  In a significant security operation, the Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspected bandits, thwarting their attempt to acquire an AK-47 rifle.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, made this known while parading the suspects before journalists at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano. He credited the successful operation to credible intelligence gathered by law enforcement officers.

The arrested individuals were identified as Shukurana Salihu (25), Rabi’u Dahiru (35), and Ya’u Idris (30), all from Katsina State, along with Muktar Sani (30) from Yandodo Hotoro Quarters, Kano. According to police reports, they were apprehended on March 6, 2025, around 2:00 pm at Chula Filling Station, Hotoro Quarters, Kano.

A thorough search of the suspects led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and other dangerous items, including:

– Three (3) locally made revolver pistols

– Twelve (12) live rounds of ammunition of various calibers

– Three (3) cartridges

– Two (2) cutlasses

– Four (4) knives

– Twenty-four (24) pieces of ball bearings

– A cash sum of ₦1,028,800

– Suspected charms

The suspects are currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where they are undergoing further interrogation. SP Kiyawa confirmed that upon the conclusion of investigations, they will be charged to court to face prosecution.

The Kano State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents by intensifying intelligence-driven operations to curb criminal activities across the state.
