Police Advise Senator Natasha to Cancel Kogi Homecoming tour

Kogi, Nigeria  —   The Kogi State Police Command has urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her planned homecoming rally, citing security concerns and a state-imposed ban on political gatherings.

The call comes ahead of the scheduled event on Tuesday, where constituents from Kogi Central were reportedly preparing to welcome the embattled senator.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, Kogi State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye emphasized that the rally contradicts the state government’s directive prohibiting political gatherings.

“Following intelligence reports on potential security threats, the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, advises the organizers to cancel the planned rally in Okene for the sake of peace and stability,” the statement read.

Commissioner Dantawaye warned that intelligence reports indicate the possibility of hoodlums hijacking the event to incite unrest.

“In light of these security threats, the police strongly advise against holding the rally to prevent any breach of law and order. Anyone found instigating disturbances will face the full force of the law,” he cautioned.

Reiterating the importance of maintaining peace, the police affirmed their commitment to safeguarding the state’s stability and ensuring that no activities disrupt the existing order.
