Party faction refutes Lamidi Apapa’s claim of chairmanship

The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party (LP) has refuted claims by Lamidi Apapa that the court has affirmed him as the authentic National Chairman of the party. Malam Umar Farouk, the National Secretary of the Abure faction, addressed the issue at a news conference in Abuja.

He clarified that the Certified True Copy of the suit did not involve Abure, and accused Apapa and his supporters of attempting to mislead the courts and the media to disrupt the progress being made to reposition the LP as a major political party in Nigeria. Farouk highlighted recent court rulings that affirmed Abure as the LP’s chairman and clarified that Sen. Athan Achonu remained the validly nominated LP governorship candidate in Imo state.
