Nigeria’s Super Falcons have made a significant leap of eight places to 32nd in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola women’s world ranking. This rise in the ranking can be attributed to their strong performance in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand.
Despite being the lowest-ranked team in their group, the Falcons managed to finish second and reached the round of 16, where they were unfortunately eliminated by England. The Falcons were ranked as the 10th best team after the conclusion of the tournament.
Other African teams also saw improvements in their rankings, with Morocco rising 14 places to 58th, South Africa moving up nine places to 45th, and Zambia climbing to 69th. Sweden now occupies the top spot in the ranking, surpassing the USA, which dropped to third. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola women’s world ranking will be published on December 15, 2023.
