Written and compiled by Sanni mojeed Abdullah, A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola will contest and emerge victorious in the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oyintiloye affirmed that Oyetola holds the first right of refusal for the APC’s governorship ticket.
Oyintiloye emphasized that Oyetola, currently serving as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, is well-prepared to reclaim leadership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun. He revealed that Oyetola has already begun consultations with key stakeholders across the state’s local governments to assess APC’s strengths and challenges ahead of the election.
“This strategic planning will guide our party’s vision and goals. We are fully prepared to regain power from the PDP in 2026, and the people of Osun are eager to see it happen. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola will contest and win the 2026 governorship election,” Oyintiloye stated.
He also praised Oyetola’s leadership during his four-year tenure as governor, noting significant achievements in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and rural development, despite limited federal allocations. Oyetiloye credited Oyetola’s private and public sector experience for his effective management of resources.
Furthermore, Oyintiloye commended Oyetola’s achievements as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, highlighting increased revenue generation, strategic investments in port infrastructure, and the adoption of initiatives to streamline trade processes as evidence of his competence.
He urged APC members to unite and rally behind Oyetola to ensure victory in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Oyintiloye further stressed the importance of party unity in ensuring the APC’s success in the 2026 gubernatorial race. He called on party members and leaders to set aside personal differences and work towards a collective goal of reclaiming Osun State from the PDP. “The strength of our party lies in our unity and ability to work together. We must put aside all forms of division and focus on our common interest—returning Oyetola to the government house,” he advised.
In his closing remarks, Oyintiloye expressed optimism that the people of Osun would vote for progress and continuity under Oyetola’s leadership. He highlighted the former governor’s reputation for integrity and results-driven governance, predicting that the electorate would favor stability and development over political experiments. “Osun needs a leader who understands governance, has a track record of success, and is ready to serve the people selflessly. Alhaji Oyetola fits that profile, and I have no doubt he will be victorious in 2026,” Oyintiloye concluded.
