Osogbo, Osun State — In a bid to bolster economic development, the Osun State Government has registered 700 youths for its inaugural creative seminar aimed at unlocking the potential of the state’s creative economy.
The announcement was made yesterday by Mr. Bamikole Omisore, Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), during a press briefing in Osogbo. Omisore revealed that the seminar, scheduled for January 28–30, will take place at the SDG Skills Acquisition Centre, Iragbiji.
The programme will focus on SDG Goals 8, 9, and 11, which address decent work and economic growth, industry and innovation, and sustainable cities and communities, respectively. Omisore emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Adeleke administration’s commitment to economic growth through creative innovation.
With the theme, “Innovate, Create, and Transform: Unlocking the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development,” the seminar aims to highlight the transformative power of creativity in achieving sustainable development. Omisore remarked, “This conference underscores our government’s dedication to fostering a creative economy that not only inspires innovation but also drives sustainable growth.”
The event is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology; the Agency on Creativity, Entertainment, and Art; the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; private sector leaders; stakeholders; and development partners. These entities have joined forces to ensure the seminar sets a precedent for future initiatives.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a series of interactive sessions, exhibitions, and cultural showcases. According to Omisore, these activities are designed to inspire and empower young creatives, equipping them with the tools needed to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
The government hopes this initiative will position Osun State as a hub for creativity and innovation, while empowering the next generation of leaders in the creative sector. “This is more than a conference; it is a platform to unleash the untapped potential of our youth and chart a path towards sustainable progress,” Omisore concluded.
