Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has confirmed that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to part ways with the club and no longer wishes to represent Napoli.
Despite strong interest from Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli during the transfer window, a move for Osimhen did not materialize before the deadline.
As a result, Napoli has omitted the striker from their Serie A squad and stripped him of the number nine jersey, fueling speculation about his future.
“The situation has been clear since the end of last season,” Manna explained to DAZN. “Victor made it known he did not want to remain at Napoli, and we tried to accommodate his wishes. Although we believed a deal was close, the negotiations ultimately fell through.”
With the club having acquired Romelu Lukaku and retaining players like Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone, Napoli appears to be moving forward. However, Osimhen could still secure a transfer to Saudi Arabia, where the window remains open.
