US/ Iran – President Donald Trump on Friday warned Iran that “bad things” will happen if the nation refuses to reach a deal on its nuclear program.
Trump issued the threat at the Oval Office after Attorney General Pam Bondi swore in Alina Habba as the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
Responding to a question, the president revealed that Iran “is very high on my list of things to watch,” urging the Islamic Republic to negotiate.
“We will have to talk it out or very bad things are gonna happen to Iran, and I don’t want that to happen.
“My big preference is that we work it out with Iran,” Trump hinted. “But if we don’t work it out, bad, bad things are gonna happen to Iran,” he said.
The US leader dispatched a letter to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei early in March, with a two-month deadline for reaching a new nuclear deal.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday confirmed that a response to Trump’s communication was “appropriately sent through Oman.”
The United States is seemingly preparing a military action, deploying B-2 stealth bombers to the Diego Garcia military base in the Indian Ocean.
Last week, Khamenei said “threats will never achieve anything,” warning that America and its allies “will receive a severe blow” if Iran is attacked.
On Friday, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer said “like powder kegs, America’s allies in the region and US bases will be made unsafe” if his country faces aggression.
