Nigeria’s Export Value spur to $5.45 Billion in 2024 – NEPC

Abuja, Nigeria  —  The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has reported a 20.7% surge in the country’s export value, reaching $5.45 billion in 2024, with trade volume hitting 7.2 metric tons.

NEPC Executive Director, Dr. Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this during the presentation of the council’s 2025 roadmap, hosted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in Abuja.

Dr. Ayeni described the milestone as a testament to Nigeria’s growing success in diversifying its economy, noting that Nigerian products are now exported to 126 countries worldwide.

“In terms of value, we grew by 20.7% to $5.45 billion, and this is a clear indication of our export potential,” she said.

She attributed the achievement to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, reaffirming NEPC’s commitment to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on oil by promoting non-oil exports.

“Our priority is to enhance the capacity of exporters, ensuring quality production from the farm gate to market access,” Dr. Ayeni stated.

The NEPC chief further outlined plans to support exporters through capacity-building programs, including training on good agricultural practices and assistance in accessing global markets.

“We are committed to equipping exporters with the necessary skills and resources to expand Nigeria’s footprint in international trade,” she added.

As part of its strategic initiatives, NEPC is integrating export development programs across all regions, North, South, East, and West inorder to scale up the volume and value of non-oil exports.

“To strengthen Nigeria’s export sector, we will offer international certifications free of charge, enabling exporters to penetrate niche markets and compete globally,” Dr. Ayeni emphasized.

Additionally, NEPC is focused on connecting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with seasoned exporters and offering specialized training to enhance their competitiveness in international trade.
