Nigeria: The United Kingdom and Nigeria have established the Creative Industries Technical Working Group, a significant initiative under the UK-Nigeria Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP)
This move aims to strengthen collaboration between the two nations’ creative sectors, driving innovation, cross-border partnerships, and sustainable economic growth.
The launch event, held in London, brought together key officials from both governments and leading figures from the creative industries. A match-making event for UK and Nigerian creative industry leaders was also held, providing a platform for exploring commercial opportunities in key creative sub-sectors such as Film and TV, Music, Fashion, and Gaming.
Florence Eshalomi MP, UK’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria and Co-Chair of the UK-Nigeria Creatives Technical Working Group, emphasized the initiative’s significance, stating that it will strengthen trade relations, foster collaboration, and unlock the immense potential of the creative industries in both countries.
The Working Group aims to facilitate new business opportunities, promote cultural exchange, and ensure sustainable development of the creative sector in both countries. A terms of reference and a joint work plan for 2025 were agreed upon, setting the strategic direction for the Working Group’s activities.
