Nigeria: The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition has issued an ultimatum to the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Olusade Adesola, to appear before the committee by Thursday to explain his role in alleged building code violations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Failure to comply may result in an arrest warrant being issued against him. The committee’s chairman, Mr. Michael Etaba, expressed surprise that Mr. Adesola, based in Abuja, chose not to attend the hearing, stressing the committee’sresolve to expedite the matter. The petition, filed by Representative Leke Abejide, chairman of the House Committee on Customs, alleges contraventions regarding plot AO9399 in the cadastral zone. Counsel to Mr. Abejide, Mr. Samuel Ajayi, has also petitioned the Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, and the Director of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, to intervene in the matter.
