NAF Destroys Terrorists’ Logistics Hub in Kaduna

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP), has successfully destroyed a terrorists’ logistics base located in Yadi Forest, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a statement issued by NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the airstrikes were carried out on Friday, September 27, 2024, following credible intelligence reports that confirmed a large presence of terrorists and weapons in the area.

The intelligence and subsequent surveillance operations revealed that the logistics base belonged to notorious terrorist leader Kadade Gurgu, an ally of Dogo Gide. The reconnaissance confirmed the presence of both the terrorists and their motorcycles at the location.

“Intelligence gathered by the NAF Air Component indicates that Kadade Gurgu has been sheltering notorious terrorist leaders due to military operations targeting them in Sokoto and Zamfara States,” Ali stated.

An aircraft, backed by an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, was deployed to strike the target. Though the area initially appeared deserted, some terrorists were spotted attempting to flee as the aircraft approached. The subsequent airstrike successfully hit the logistics facility, causing it to burst into flames with thick black smoke visible.

Reports from independent sources, including local informants, confirmed that the logistics base was completely destroyed, and several terrorists were killed in the attack.

Group Captain Ali reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to working with ground forces to maintain control over the battle space, ensuring constant patrols, and targeting criminal hideouts within the North-West and North-Central regions. The ongoing operation aims to weaken and eliminate terrorist and criminal activities in these areas.
