The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recently carried out airstrikes near Bakori Hills and Yartsintsiya in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the neutralization of approximately 29 bandits.
Reports indicate that 8 bandits were eliminated by gunfire wounds, while 21 were killed by bomb fragments, with further details still emerging. This operation has disrupted criminal activities in the area and facilitated the escape of numerous kidnapped victims.
According to a statement from the office of Governor Dikko Radda’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, dated June 11, one of those rescued during the airstrikes was the daughter of the Ruwan Godiya village head, who had been held captive for an extended period. The NAF continues to work closely with ground forces and intelligence agencies to pinpoint and neutralize criminal elements in the region.
Previously, armed bandits had attacked Gidan Boka village in Kankara Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic loss of over 26 lives, including police officers and members of the Community Watch Corps. Kankara is among the eight local government areas grappling with banditry in numerous communities.
Governor Dikko Radda’s efforts have weakened the bandits, prompting them to target softer locations for their attacks.
