Liverpool have reportedly turned down an approach from Real Madrid for their star right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold. According to Spanish outlet Marca, Real Madrid were prepared to make a formal bid of €20 million for the England international, but the Reds are unwilling to entertain offers for him during this January transfer window.
Real Madrid have made Alexander-Arnold their top priority since May 2024 and are determined to secure his services. Despite their intent to force a move, Liverpool remain firm, focusing on retaining the 26-year-old as they aim for silverware this season. The club is also keen on negotiating a new contract with Alexander-Arnold.
Currently under contract until the summer of 2025, Alexander-Arnold is eligible to enter pre-contract discussions with other clubs this January. However, Liverpool are eager to prevent such a scenario by extending his stay at Anfield.
In the ongoing 2024/2025 Premier League season, Alexander-Arnold has made 17 appearances, contributing one goal and four assists. Over his career at Liverpool, he has scored 20 goals and provided 84 assists in 333 appearances, solidifying his status as one of the league’s top performers.
Real Madrid, aware of his impending free-agent status, are reportedly shifting their focus to a potential move in the summer of 2025. They remain optimistic about securing Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, despite Liverpool’s reluctance to let him go.
