Paris, France — RC Lens midfielder, Basit Hamzat Ojediran, has expressed his strong desire to play for the Super Eagles in the near future.
The 21-year-old has been a regular feature for the French Ligue 1 side since his move from Albanian club, Debrecine VSC, last summer. So far, Ojediran has made 11 league appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
In an interview with Completesports.com, the former Golden Eaglets player shared his aspirations to represent Nigeria at the senior level, stating that it would be a dream come true.
“My dream has always been to play for the Super Eagles,” Ojediran said. “I’ve represented Nigeria at the U-17 level, and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to play for the Super Eagles.”
Ojediran was part of the Golden Eaglets team, managed by Manu Garba, that reached the Round of 16 at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
Interestingly, the new Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, also has ties to RC Lens, having played for the club between 2008 and 2011.
Lens currently sits in sixth place on the Ligue 1 table.
