Ankara, Turkey— Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has rejected an offer to manage Turkish club, Kayserispor.
According to reports from Portuguese news platform A Bola, Peseiro engaged in negotiations with the Turkish club but ultimately declined the opportunity to lead the team.
The 64-year-old coach has been without a managerial role since his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired in March 2024.
Following Peseiro’s decision, Kayserispor has opted to appoint Bosnian coach Sergej Jakirovic, who is expected to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
Kayserispor is currently facing significant challenges, including a player registration ban for the next three transfer windows and a financial crisis. The club is also on a poor run of form, having gone five games without a win, recording four defeats and one draw.
The Anatolian Stars are presently in 17th position on the Turkish Super Lig table, with just 16 points.
