Lagos – Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced his support for the impeachment of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Obasa, who was impeached by the assembly members on Monday, faced allegations of financial misconduct and various statutory violations. Following his removal, Mojisola Meranda Ojora was elected as the new Speaker of the House.
Igbokwe, quick to react, shared his stance on the matter via Facebook, emphasizing the strained relationship between Obasa and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Igbokwe claimed that despite several attempts by Governor Sanwo-Olu and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) to persuade Obasa to cooperate, the Speaker remained resistant to working with the Governor.

Igbokwe posted, “The deed is done in LAHA!!! Hon Mudashiru Obasa impeached as Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly for gross misconduct and abuse of office. Hon Mojisola Melanda Ojora is the new Speaker.” He further commented, “He was on Governor Sanwo Olu’s neck for years. Every attempt to persuade him to work with the Governor fell on deaf ears. Many interventions by GAC members did not help matters.”
