Rivers State – Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the people of the state to remain calm despite the ongoing political turmoil. In a statement released on Wednesday, he emphasized that his leadership has always been guided by constitutional principles and a commitment to the state’s progress.
Fubara highlighted his efforts to maintain peace, including reinstating commissioners who previously resigned and swiftly implementing a Supreme Court judgment. However, he accused the Rivers State House of Assembly of obstructing genuine reconciliation and governance.
Despite political tensions, he reassured residents that salaries have been paid, projects are ongoing, and the state remains secure. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding while engaging relevant institutions to uphold democracy.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Fubara, his deputy, and the lawmakers for six months. Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas was appointed as the state administrator to oversee governance.
