Governor Fubara Vanishes from Government House After Emergency Rule Declaration

NIGERIAThe whereabouts of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, remain unknown following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

Tinubu’s announcement suspended the state’s executive and legislature for six months, appointing retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator.

According to sources, Fubara was in a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, watching the President’s broadcast. However, upon hearing the announcement, he abruptly ended the meeting and left with some aides to an undisclosed location.

Security personnel stationed at the Government House were reportedly replaced, though the authority behind the change remains unclear. Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun investigating some state officials in connection with the crisis.

The situation remains tense, with further updates expected as developments unfold.
