First Lady Distributes Relief Items to Persons with Disabilities in Nasarawa

In an effort to support less privileged households amidst the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, First Lady Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu has distributed food items to over 1,200 persons with disabilities (PWDs) and vulnerable groups in Nasarawa State.

During the distribution event in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Senator Oluremi Tinubu announced a grant of over 1.8 billion naira to 46 women selected from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. This distribution is part of the Renewed Hope Social Investment Food Outreach Scheme, aimed at providing relief and empowerment to PWDs and vulnerable groups.

Representing the First Lady, the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger nationwide. She highlighted that the initiative focuses on healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment.

The Nasarawa State Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and optimistic about better living conditions.

Beneficiaries, including Miss Rakiya Ali and Mr. Ovey John, praised the First Lady’s unprecedented gesture, noting its timely assistance in their lives.

Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd), the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, called on leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people in their programs consistently.

The distributed food items included rice, semo vita, spaghetti, and macaroni.
