The Federal Government has appointed Professor Lucian Chukwu as the new Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, approved the appointment, which will last for a single five-year term beginning February 28, 2025.
Selection Process and Background
Before this appointment, Professor Chukwu served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) at the University of Lagos.
The selection process was conducted by the university’s Governing Council on February 26 and 27, 2025, with five candidates being interviewed at the Council Chamber.
Professor Chukwu emerged as the top candidate, securing 83.41% of the total votes.
Despite concerns over fairness and transparency during the selection, the Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that the appointment was strictly merit-based.
The government extended its best wishes to Professor Chukwu as he assumes leadership of the institution.
