The Federal Government has approved an increase in fees for Nigerian passports, set to take effect from September 1, 2024. This was announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, via the agency’s X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.
The revision aims to uphold the quality and security standards of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
According to the statement, “In a bid to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, the Federal Government has approved an upward review of passport fees, effective from September 1, 2024.”
Under the new structure, the fee for a 32-page passport with a 5-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000, while the 64-page passport with a 10-year validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000.
The NIS apologized for any inconvenience caused by the price adjustment but reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and delivering high-quality services to Nigerians.
