FG, Adamawa Sign MoU to Upgrade Hospitals

In a bold move to revamp healthcare in the North-East, the Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Adamawa State Government to upgrade Cottage Hospital Hong and General Hospital Mubi into Federal Medical Centres.

The initiative, part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, aims to elevate healthcare access and delivery across the region. Speaking at the MoU signing in Abuja, the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, hailed the agreement as a transformative step for Nigeria’s healthcare system. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom, Pate highlighted that the upgrade underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.

Expanding Regional Healthcare Impact

“This transformation is not just about Mubi and Hong,” Pate noted. “It’s about creating a ripple effect that extends healthcare benefits to the entire North-East and even neighboring countries, ensuring access to high-quality medical services.”

State Support and Vision

Adamawa’s Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, praised the Federal Government’s vision, emphasizing that the partnership aligns seamlessly with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare for the state’s residents. “This collaboration is a testament to our shared dedication to improving the well-being of our people,” she remarked during the handover ceremony.

A New Dawn for Adamawa’s Health Sector

Echoing this optimism, Chief Felix Tangwami, the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, expressed confidence in the initiative’s long-term impact. “We are grateful for this federal intervention, which will undoubtedly lead to significant advancements in healthcare delivery across Adamawa,” he said.

This strategic partnership marks a crucial milestone in the federal and state governments’ joint efforts to provide safe, effective, and accessible healthcare for Nigerians, particularly in underserved regions.
