Nigeria: The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) is urging public and civil servants in Nigeria to adopt its online asset declaration system, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability
This move is part of the bureau’s efforts to eliminate bureaucratic delays and strengthen the fight against corruption.
Key Features of the Online Platform
– Ease of Compliance: The digital platform allows public officials to declare their assets easily and enables real-time monitoring.
– Transparency and Accountability: The system ensures greater transparency and accountability, promoting a culture of openness in public service.
– Capacity Building: The CCB is organizing workshops to build capacity and foster collaboration among institutions, civil society groups, and citizens.
Rollout and Implementation
The CCB, in collaboration with the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), has launched a training program in several states, including Edo, Anambra, Lagos, Plateau, Adamawa, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The program aims to:
– Enhance Compliance: Increase compliance rates with asset declaration requirements.
– Reduce Paperwork: Eliminate paperwork and reduce the need for physical appearances before a judge.
– Promote Collective Vigilance: Foster a sense of ownership and encourage collaboration among stakeholders.
By embracing digital innovation, the CCB is taking a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s public service.
