Bomb Explosion Rocks Imo, Levels Newly Built Bungalow

Umuneke, Mbieri  — A bomb explosion has destroyed a newly constructed bungalow in Umuneke, Mbieri, within the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, leaving residents in shock and fear.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has raised concerns about the cause of the explosion and the safety of the community.

Eyewitnesses reported that the house, which had been recently completed, was yet to be occupied, as the owners had planned to move in February.

A local resident, Ikenna Chinedu, shared, “We heard a deafening sound that echoed through neighboring villages. When we mustered the courage to investigate, we found the newly completed bungalow reduced to rubble.”

He added, “The tragic part is that the couple put in so much effort to build their dream home. We don’t know what caused the explosion, but it seems suspicious.”

According to Chinedu, the community remains on edge, with residents sleeping uneasily. He expressed hope that the property owners, upon arrival, would authorize a thorough investigation into the incident.

Efforts to reach the Imo State Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, for comments were unsuccessful, as his phone line was unreachable.

The explosion has left the community seeking answers, with many hoping for clarity on the mysterious incident that destroyed the family’s future home.
