The newly inaugurated Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has expressed his commitment to utilizing the Ministry, its parastatals, agencies, and partners to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria. He made this statement during the resumption ceremony organized by the ministry in Abuja.
Sen. Bagudu, who is among the newly appointed ministers, highlighted the national challenges as an opportunity to plan and implement strategic interventions. He emphasized that the ministry would assist the new administration in addressing economic challenges and devising sustainable palliative measures. He also stressed the importance of reforms that would extend to the parastatals under the ministry to enhance their contributions to achieving its mandate.
He assured the staff of the ministry of his open-door policy and willingness to listen to their inputs and suggestions. Sen. Bagudu acknowledged the heavy responsibilities ahead and expressed his determination to leverage the resources of the ministry and its parastatals to unlock the country’s potential and achieve President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s agenda.
Sen. Bagudu also highlighted plans for reforms within the autonomous agencies and parastatals under the ministry’s purview. He emphasized a focus on studies, surveys, and research by the Nigeria Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER). Additionally, he discussed the importance of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in achieving the double-digit growth agenda of the Federal Government, along with the implementation of the Social Protection Policy to address poverty and improved livelihood conditions.
The minister’s commitment to economic growth, reforms, and social inclusion reflects his dedication to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Nigeria’s economy.
