Nigeria : The All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind the creation of Anioma State, with APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, describing the proposal as a “done deal” backed by the party leadership and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration
The endorsement came during a rally in Agbor, Delta State, where thousands of APC members and supporters gathered to show their support for the party and the proposed state.
Ganduje assured the Anioma people of the party’s commitment to realizing their statehood aspirations, citing the move as a step towards national unity, equitable development, and correcting historical imbalances, particularly in Delta North. “I bring you assurances from President Tinubu, our governors, the National Assembly, and the entire APC structure—Anioma State is no longer a dream, it is a done deal,” he said.
Senator Ned Nwoko, a key proponent of the Anioma State movement, expressed optimism that the creation of the state would enhance political representation, drive infrastructure development, and improve access to federal resources for the people of the region. He highlighted potential benefits such as job creation, better schools, roads, healthcare facilities, and overall economic growth.
Key Benefits of Anioma State
– Enhanced Representation: Having their own governor, senators, and increased federal presence
– Infrastructure Development: Better roads, schools, and healthcare facilities
– Economic Growth: Job creation and increased federal allocations
– Development Focus: The initiative aims to promote development, not division
Nwoko also disclosed that over N30 billion worth of federal projects have been approved for Delta North, including a N7 billion investment in the Ogwashi-Uku Earth Dam and ongoing road projects. He commended Ganduje for backing the Anioma State creation, describing it as a milestone in the quest for political inclusion and development for the people of Delta North.
