APC Backs Gov. Otu, Deputy for 2027 Elections

Calabar, Nigeria  —  The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Dr. Peter Odey, as the party’s flag bearers for the 2027 gubernatorial elections, effectively closing the door to other contenders within the party.

The announcement was made by APC State Chairman, Mr. Alphonsus Eba, during a press briefing in Calabar on Monday evening. He emphasized that there would be no vacancy for the governorship position under the party’s platform, as the duo had demonstrated outstanding leadership.

“No right-thinking person changes a winning team,” Eba declared, highlighting the administration’s achievements and the trust they have earned from the party’s leadership.

Urging party members and support groups to intensify grassroots mobilization, Eba also warned against unauthorized legal actions by individuals attempting to disrupt party unity.

He further stated that while members are free to contest other political positions, the governorship and deputy governorship slots remain exclusively reserved for Governor Otu and Dr. Odey.

“After nearly two years in office, it is evident that we made the right choice. One good term deserves another,”  he affirmed.

The APC leadership unanimously resolved that Otu and Odey would lead the party’s ticket in the upcoming elections.

“It was a joint mandate, and we have seen immense loyalty and intellect from the Deputy Governor. We, therefore, reaffirm that these two remain the best pair to lead Cross River State forward,” Eba added.

Party members and support groups were urged to begin full-scale outreach efforts to consolidate support.

Eba also commended Governor Otu and his deputy for their alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s stance on declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, describing it as a necessary step to maintain peace.

With this declaration, the APC in Cross River State has set its course for 2027, reaffirming confidence in the leadership of Governor Otu and his deputy.
